The nose on this elegant wine opens to a floral bouquet with a hint of pepper and spice. The palate launches with cherry, tobacco, licorice and tar, finishing with astringency on the back. At four hours, the wine has smoothed out significantly and allows more fruit in the middle, mostly cherry but also red plum, along with hints of vegetal flavors including brussels sprouts and asparagus. White pepper and spice add balance and zing on the moderately long finish.
