What to Expect

Petite Sirah is one of a group of grapes that took to a new home - in this case California - after moving from the relative obscurity enjoyed at its birthplace - France in this case - where it is called Duriff. While never particularly elegant nor subtle, Petite Sirah can produce large-scaled, intense wines with bright flavors of blue and plummy fruits, rich with earthy tannins.

Wine Tasting NotesDeep, inky pomegranate purple color that does leave stains. This super concentrated petite sirah features varietal wet clay notes which synthesize into a savory floral lavender scent over light clove spices. The palate is very supple with sappy French Oak flavors and generous concentration over a complex matrix of massive yet resolved tannins. The finish is silky textured with subtle vanilla, cola and over-ripe huckleberry juiciness.

Petite Sirah is called Pets by veteran grape growers like Vinum Cellars' Ken Wilson. So this wine is dedicated to his pet - Tanker. Dark colored, long legged and bold, this wine has the potential of becoming your best friend. A portion of the profits from Pets will be donated to Vinum's local animal shelter, the San Francisco SPCA.
