Fairly sweet and smoky, with an unexpected tannin finish. Flavors of grape juice, lemon, plum, and prune. Good.

50% Tempranillo 50% Garnacha blend. Crusty meat scent. Smooth start, juicy berry flavor, dry finish.

Bright ruby. Spicy strawberry and raspberry aromas are complicated by orange peel and white pepper. Bright red berry flavors are pure and sweet, with no earthiness. Finishes sweet and spicy, with zero tannins and good persistence. This is a terrific value.

It sounds like a new, super-strength breath mint from Mentos (the freshmaker), but it is in fact the least expensive wine from Sin Ley. Nearly famous for their G series of Grenache-based wines and now their M series of Mourvedre-based ones, the Zestos is a 50/50 blend of Grenache and Tempranillo. Like many of these types of wines, itrsquo;s gulpably delicious. Young and fresh, with an abundance of red and black berry flavors, it has nice acidity, good overall balance and even some length on the finish. We love the Gs and the new Ms, but give me some Zs any day of the week.

Looking for the perfect everyday red that will pair well with anything from pasta to tuna to pork? Well here it is. This medium bodied red is a blend of 50% Garnacha and 50% Tempranillo. Flavors of blueberries pepper and herbs intertwined with light tannins make it a perfect year-round drinker. Give it a little chill and drink it on warm days; it’s even cheap enough to use as your base for sangria. This red has such flexibility that you should buy it by the case — I do.

A 50/50 blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha. Bright violet. Vibrant aromas of red and dark berries, spicecake and anise. Lively strawberry and raspberry flavors give way to deeper cherry in the middle palate, providing impressive depth for the price. The spicy quality repeats on the nervy, focused finish. This wine’s liveliness reminds me of Pinot Noir.
