Faint, sour cherries, with some wood shavings on the nose. Strong vanilla character on the palate with sour pomegranate, cherries, and mild oak. Light to medium in texture. Nice medium finish shows off its robust acidity. 90 points.

Das Aroma ist von balsamischen Noten geprägt, Eichenwürze und Kirschfrucht halten sich die Waage. Am Gaumen gutes Tannin: fest, aber reif und schmackhaft. Auch hier viel Würze und rote Steinfrüchte mit Kräuternuancen, sehr harmonische Weinsäure. Das Finale ist geprägt von dunklen Röstaromen und Kirschfrucht. Ein kraftvoller Klassiker, auf den man sich verlassen kann.
Bright, deep red. Aromatic, suave nose combines plum, currant, nuts, tobacco and sweet oak spices. Dense, silky and fresh, with a mineral component contributing to the winersquo;s clarity of flavor. A snappy, classic Rioja with excellent length. Very strong for the vintage.
No, itrsquo;s not a typo. Itrsquo;s a magnum of 1990 Rioja Reserva and itrsquo;s going just fine, thank you. And the fact that it was created in a leaner, more restrained style makes it all the more remarkable that itrsquo;s drinking so well now. Slightly tawny in color, the fruit is tart, vibrant, rustic, and unmistakably Riojan.
Starts off a little shaky, but just needs a little time in a decanter to right itself and blow off some dusty aromas. Underneath that is some toasty oak, along with cherry, vanilla and tobacco flavors. Itrsquo;s relatively light, supple and ready to drink tonight with roast lamb.
Bright ruby-red. Complex, aromatic bouquet of red berries, dried cherry, sassafras, tobacco and cedary oak. On the palate, dark fruits are joined by mounting vanilla and oak spice character. Packs a solid punch and finishes with very good spicy persistence.
Situated majestically within the Alavesa district, this bodega is one of the oldest estates in La Rioja. Traditional in style, the wine focuses more on subtlety and terroir than on ultra-extracted fruit and a lumberjackrsquo;s sensibility to oak. As a Reserva, the wine displays a developed ruby color and mature, layered aromatics. Roasted coffee, saddle leather, toast, dill, lavender and hints of tobacco are wonderfully fragrant and delineated on the nose. The palate reveals charming flavors of bakerrsquo;s chocolate, prunes, dates, damson, vanilla and blackberries expressed in a soft and restrained manner. Aged for two years in large barrels and one year in bottle, the oak influence is evident, yet well integrated amidst medium texture, weight, and acidity. It is unheard of to find reserva Rioja of this quality at this price.

Marqués de Riscal, the oldest Rioja house, has for many years been a leading and pioneering company in the wine producing sector. As far back as 1858, it became the first winery in Rioja to produce wines following the Bordeaux method, and in 1972 it was the first winery to promote the Rueda Designation of Origin, where it produced its famous Marqués de Riscal white wines. Marqués de Riscal sells its products in 80 countries and its wines enjoy the highest international distinctions as well as numerous awards and mentions in the media. Marqués de Riscal Reserva wines are predominantly made from grapes from Tempranillo vines over 15 years of age, grown in the best clay-limestone soils of the Rioja Alavesa. Riscal Reservas spend around two years in American-oak casks, producing a wine which corresponds to the classic Rioja style: fresh, fine, elegant and very suitable for laying down for many years. This 'Rioja Reserva' shows a dark cherry colour with good depth. Balsamic aromas with hints of ripe fruit on the nose and a fresh and light attack, with soft, rounded tannins. This Rioja is spicy and complex, the finish is persistent with subtle toasted oak character. It is elegant, fresh and easy to drink. Try with ham, mild cheeses, casseroles which are not too spicy, pulse dishes, poultry, red meat, grilled and roast meat.

<p>This wine is a blend of hand-selected 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano and Mazeulo. Aged in American oak barrels for about two years. Complex and dark-purple in color.</p>
