Vinoptima Gewurtztraminer Late Harvest 2004
Aromatic, wild and exotic fruits and spices with a luscious lingering finish. The Vinoptima Gewurztraminer is golden in color and exhibits luscious aromas of lychees, melon fruits and scented honey. The wine displays intense fruit sweetness yet the finish is drier than would be expected, allowing the most complex and exotic array of tropical fruit flavors, accentuated by pineapple and mandarin orange to shine through. The fruit flavors are perfectly balanced with delicate spicy accents of nutmeg and vanilla. Vinoptima Gewurztraminer is an extremely versatile food wine that will compliment a variety of dishes, however it is the enjoyment of the wine that should be paramount. Recommended pairings include exotic food dishes, including Southeast Asian and Indian cuisine, lightly spiced pacific-rim fusion food, pork, seafood, poultry and char-grilled vegetables, and the traditional foie gras and melba toast. Vinoptima Gewurztraminer can also be enjoyed with light fruity deserts. The flavorsome and refreshing character of Vinoptima Gewurztraminer also renders it an excellent aperitif. Gewurztraminer is one of the very few white varietals that will age successfully over many years and become quite unctuous and oily and delicious to savor.
On the nose, developed aromas of white flowers and honey. The wine seems to have lost with time its tropical fruit style and aged with rounder aromas. The residual sugar is quite high, but not overly, which gives an enjoyable luscious structure in the mouth. A good presence of acohol on the mid palate, followed by a lasting length of honey and orange flavours. QC
Stunning white, now shows buttery, orange zest, honey suckle and marmalade notes. Full and rich mouth feeling but cutter freshly with vibrant acidity and a zesty peel bitterness. Round and powerful.
