What to Expect

California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

Winemakers Notes

The gorgeous 2006 Cru Proprietary Red Wine is a 2,700-case blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Revealing sweet tannin along with a beautiful bouquet of berry fruit, tobacco leaf, cedar, earth, and burning embers, this medium to full-bodied effort possesses supple tannins as well as a lush, heady finish. It should drink beautifully for 10-12 years.

Tasting Notes - Firm but soft velvety tannins are balanced with the natural fruit acids to keep the palate lively. Blackberries, concentrated blueberry, and subtle toasty oak flavors persist through a lengthy finish. This is a rich, full-bodied, strikingly proportioned, beautifully textured, elegant and nuanced wine. Enjoy this beauty now through 2020.

Vineyard 29 is located in the heart of Cabernet Sauvignon country. "Cru" is made from six vineyards that are specifically selected. The nose is packed with notes of coffee bean and chocolate, while in the mouth, flavors of cassis and black cherry bust with underlying silky tannins.
