100% Pedro Ximenez, traditionally known as a sherry grape, the Odysseus is the only still Pedro Ximenez made in Spain, from the Poboleda area of Priorato known for it's white wines. Named in honor of the Greeks, who first brought the vines to Spain, the grapes are sourced from a 75-year old vineyard near Scala Dei then cold macerated in French oak and stainless steel tanks for 18 hours. Fermented in stainless steel and bottled unfiltered. Slightly cloudy greenish yellow color. Intensely aromatic nose of pear, peach, other ripe stone fruits, and white flowers. The palate is rich flavorful, juicy tartness, long full finish, dry but still very fruity. Very reminiscent of PX being full bodied and fruity. Not your everyday white but worth searching out and trying at least once with your wine geek buddies. 4/5
