What to Expect
Tannat is a grape most frequently associated with the Madiran region of France, though it has become increasingly successful in South America, particularly Uruguay. It produces a rich, rustic wine with considerable tannins and a smoky, spicy character that adds complexity to its deep tones of black raspberry fruit.

Had this wine a long time ago with dessert after a fancy dinner at the Four Seasons Boston--even after an overwhelmingly delicious meal, this wine is what I remember. It is intensely sweet but NOT cloying. The flavors of honey, caramel, and cocoa are all very present. It accompanies a sweet, creamy dessert very well but I'd just as soon drink a glass of it alone. One of the most unusual dessert wines I've ever tasted.
