Vinedo de Los Vientos Alcoyne Tannat Dessert Wine NV

Winemaker's Notes:

Winemaker: Pablo Fallabrino. This wine was made by combining two different techniques for dessert wines: the Barolo chinato and the Marsala. The wine was aged in French oak barrels. Radiant yet amber purple hue with honey-like texture. Touched with a bouquet of winter flowers, Madagascan vanilla bean, and marshmallow. Polished tannins with warmth and savor of white cacao soufflé.

Uruguay is surprising us these days with their vast realm of reds, whites and this dessert wine! This is made form the tannat grape - a variety that renders reds with very decent tannins. This is fortified lightly with grappa and almost tastes of a sweet Italian bitter.

Alcyone is named for a greek goddess of peace and tranquility. The wine is from a family recipe, which has been kept secret for decades. The wine instills a calmness with its polished tannins, radiant yet amber purple hue and its honey like texture.Touched with a bouquet of winter flowers, Madagascan vanilla bean and wild apple mint indulged with a warmth and savor of white cacao souffle.

A stunning and quite possibly addictive dessert wine. The nose is full of aromas of chocolate cake, sweet spices, vanilla bean, and apple pie. On the palate it is total honey, cocoa, caramel, and...yes...more vanilla. The next time somebody claims to not like sweet wines, pour them a taste of this. - Winery
