Vine Cliff Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2005
From Napa Valley's longest growing season comes our flagship wine...the Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. The deep, rich fruit flavors so characteristic from our vineyard are balanced by softer tannins which allows this lucious wine to be enjoyed now. However, if you wish to lay some away for a while, you will not be sorry! 2005 is turning out to be an exception vintage in Napa Valley for Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vine Cliff Winery offers fine wines and rare views at their beautiful 100-acre estate nestled high in the Oakville hills above the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley. Private tours and tastings at our historic winery, available by appointment only, are offered daily. Their specialties are cabernets from their Oakville estate and chardonnays from their estate in the famed Carneros district.
one of the best wines I have ever tasted, a little more body would have made it the absolute best! A nose of dark fruit, vanila, and oak....on the palate ripe cherry with a little bit of rasberry hints of oak and vanilla and currant one of the smoothest finishing wines I have ever tasted!

The aroma is lifted with sweet black cherry, cassis, black currant jam and red raspberry fruits with a hint of anise. Honeysuckle, tobacco and forest floor nuances add dimension along with the cedar, and spicy nutmeg of the oak. The palate is intense at entry with bright sweet fleshy currant, blackberry, and cassis fruits. Hints of dark chocolate and licorice add complexity to the fleshy black fruits. The flavors build into a rich, full bodied mid palate which has a mouth feel that is viscous and harmonious. Round polished tannins linger on the finish.
Nestled into a hidden canyon in the prestigious Oakville appellation, Vine Cliff Winery boasts one of the most desirable locations in the Napa Valley. The surrounding hillsides above the Silverado Trail are home to the stunning vineyards that produce the grapes for rich, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignons. The vineyard consists of 14 individual vineyard blocks ranging from steep hillside terraces, to the flat rocky red soil of the "Oakville Bench" at 400 feet above the valley floor. The combination of diverse terrain, low yields and impeccable farming has produced grapes with incredible flavor and concentration. Wine Spectator scored this wine 93 points saying "Creamy-textured, intense and focused, with ripe, vibrant black cherry, currant, anise and plum notes that are well-structured, with lively acidity and firm yet ripe tannins. Drink now through 2015."
