($91) Very subdued nose hints at apple, minerals and nutty oak. Then intensely flavored, penetrating and youthfully backward, with bracing flavors of apple, spiced pear and powdered stone. Very densely packed, spicy wine that's currently dominated by its powerful spine. This needs a good five or six years to blossom in the bottle and may well merit a higher score.

Considerably bigger and more intense with lovely, extremely fresh and notably complex citrus and green apple aromas framed by obvious mineral notes that lead to powerful if relatively forward and fat flavors with fine persistence. This will unwind relatively quickly for a Corton-Charlemagne as it's quite forward yet for all the richness, size and fat, it remains a very detailed effort. I like this.
