Partly floral notes complete with the vanillins. Complexity will come with time. Stony, appley fruits, great length and a perfumed finish. Outstanding. Drink 2008-13.

Vincent Dancer, whose first vintage was 1996, declared that 2002 is the best vintage, and in both colors, since I started making wine. We had much lower yields than in 2001 with such good sugars that there was no chaptalization. The acids were good but not exceptional but the natural freshness of the vintage makes the wines seem racier than they really are based simply upon their reported acidities. The reds were bottled between July and September and I agree wholeheartedly with Dancer as this is the best set of reds that I have seen from him.
