- Partly floral notes complete with the vanillins. Complexity will come with time. Stony, appley fruits, great length and a perfumed finish. Outstanding. Drink 2008-13.

- Vincent Dancer, whose first vintage was 1996, declared that 2002 is the best vintage, and in both colors, since I started making wine. We had much lower yields than in 2001 with such good sugars that there was no chaptalization. The acids were good but not exceptional but the natural freshness of the vintage makes the wines seem racier than they really are based simply upon their reported acidities. The reds were bottled between July and September and I agree wholeheartedly with Dancer as this is the best set of reds that I have seen from him. The terrific density is such that they can withstand the read more...wood treatment and these are clearly high quality wines worthy of your cellars. (A Roy Cloud Selection for Vintage '59 Imports, Washington D.C.; Richards Walford and Justerini & Brooks, UK). Note: from .29 ha parcel of vines planted in 1978 and aged in 50% new wood The oak presently dominates the nose and fights for center stage with elegant green fruit aromas, leading to punchy, precise and pure middle weight flavors and while the oak does round off the detail on the finish, it does not sweeten it as this is quite dry and intense. There is ample length and this is quite a powerful wine in the context of a typical Perrières. (hide)
