Viñas del Vero Gewürztraminer Somontano 2005
Steely gold in color. The wine shows lychee, roses, mushroom, and lime on the nose. Medium overall acidty with a rich mouthfeel. Lychee shows on the palate strong, with bitter lime, and grapefruit pulp. Overall this wine is dry, yet shows a slight sweetness maybe due to it's richness. 4/5 [NR]
Food Pairings for Viñas del Vero Gewürztraminer Somontano
Somontano’s mountainous climes offer opportunities for extracted, dense wines, and this is one of those. The dry and dusty nose is still somewhat closed; the mouth is chewy with dried fruits, black cherry, and plum skins; and the finish lingers. This has some warmth but is not overly alcoholic. The wine is still hard and evolving, but balance is hiding in there; give it some time. Cellar for a few years and drink in the next five to ten years.
