User Reviews for Vina Von Siebenthal Tatay de Cristobal

Winemaker's Notes:

The philosophy behind Viña von Siebenthal is similar to that of the Bordeaux chateaux; vineyards, cellar and house blend together harmoniously to facilitate the creation of an exceptional wine.Vina von Siebenthal’s three main vineyards are located in the historical winegrowing area of Panquehue, in the Aconcagua Valley, a semi-arid stretch of land cradled between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. The wines are cultivated using organic farming principles and the yield is drastically reduced in order to intensify the aroma of the grapes. Jay Miller gives a rave review of the Von Siebenthal wines: "If I were awarding an Oscar for finest performance by a winery, Von Siebenthal would be my winner. All of their wines are amazing values." The Tatay de Cristobal was awarded a hugely impressive 97 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, the highest score ever achieved by a Chilean wine, and one that reflects immense quality. This wine is named for Christopher Columbus and comes from a 1.3ha plot which produces grapes so concentrated that the wine has hints of Port or Amarone despite not being fortified. It has a backbone of black fruit, coffee beans, blasamic, liquorice and a monumental tannic structure. The Tatay de Cristobal has beautiful balance, complex flavours and exceptional length. It will be at its best after 6-8 years cellaring and should be enjoyed between 2016 and 2037.
