Viña Santa Rita Carménère Rapel Valley Reserva 2008
Rating 88. Good everyday wine with a different taste . Nose with hint of berries, full body and dry with bold taste notes. For the price of $ 6.- this is a bargain you should try
My local wine guy recommended this wine to me, but I was disappointed. It has an awkward finish that left a bad taste in my mouth. I kept expecting it to open up the second and third days, but didn't get there. It wasn't horrible, but not something I'd buy again.
Not as surprising as the Sauvignon Blanc, but I like the feel. Sharp on the nose and the finish is bitter, overwhelming the subtler flavors. I hope there's more left at the grocer, because this needs more air than I gave it; I think this is good a find and deserves more inspection.
I've found Carmeneres to be nearly as reliable as Malbecs in the $10-12 price range, and this is a good red. The aroma suggests earthy and dark fruit, and the main body has notes of tobacco, wood, blackberries, and plums, with a finish that actually reminds me of Earl Grey tea (bergamot). More earthy than "fruit forward" with a good complexity for this price range. I was initially going to give this 3.5 but as it oxidizes a bit I'll go to 4/5. This is an excellent value.
If you drink this below room temp, it is so much better. Had it at about 69 and it wasn't so good, but at 60 degrees, very nice and a fantastic bargain. I will buy again
Good money value .two for $ 10 at ABC Liquour
Very approachable, full bodied red, with earthy accents. Not a perfect wine but at this price point I wouldn't expect it to be.

All vineyards are planted in vertical shoot position in order to obtain good sunlight exposure and airing. The crop is restricted to 7-8 ton/ha so as to get concentrated grapes. During the season, irrigation becomes a critical factor for this variety since it is very sensitive to water stress. The idea is to reduce water availability down to pea size to produce medium size berries and vigor control, then allowing the roots to feed the plant with enough water for good ripening, without any excess, while keeping a small growth of leaves at the tip of the shoots.
