Santa Rita was founded in 1880, by a distinguished entrepreneur of those times, Mr. Domingo Fernández Concha in the area of Alto Jahuel where the main installations of the winery are currently located. From the very beginning, he introduced fine French varieties, winemakers and the most advanced winemaking techniques. From the end of the XIX century until the mid 70´s, Santa Rita developed under the ownership of Mr. Vicente García - Huidobro, father of the famous Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro Fernández. In 1980, the Grupo Claro acquired the Santa Rita property, giving a strong impulse to the enterprise in all of its scope, introducing great technological improvements and wine elaboration techniques unknown in Chile at that time. At the end of the 80´s a great expansion period for Santa Rita starts, sustained by the great momentum experienced by its exports and the excellent reputation acquired by its products, which obtained important awards and worldwide recognition. A best buy in my book. Medium bodies with a silky mouth fell. A nose of hickory with hints of blackberry. Rich in tannins with a subtle wild berry taste. Long, lasting finish.

Solid purple in color, berries on the nose, smokey at the finish.

Nice and ripe, with light whiffs of olive and herbs and strong berry fruit aromas. The palate is pure Maipo, meaning it blends herbal notes with black fruits, especially cassis. Firm in structure, stout on the finish, and ends with a hint of chocolate.

Fermented in stainless steel but aged briefly on heavily toasted oak staves; this is one big, fruity red. The nose is roasted, offering coffee and charbroiled beef. The palate is young but smooth, with pounds of berry fruit. It's heavily oaked, but the fruit can handle it.

Densely jammed with black cherry fruit and relatively light tannins, this is a good choice for a roast pork tenderloin.

Has a dark, smoky bacon-fat note, with coffee, mushroom and currant flavors underneath. Chewy, beefy finish. Wins on guts, not polish. Drink now through 2002.

Distinctly Maipo in the mossy, woodsy accents to its black currant fruit, this Cabernet is light in texture yet complete and satisfying. The currant fruit is succulent and well extracted, the oak adding a caramelized tone to the finish. Ready to drink.

Delicate and lively. Light-bodied yet firm, this red offers pretty floral and berry character with an underpinning of sweet vanilla oak. It's graceful enough for an aperitif, yet can stand up to food. Drink now through 2002.

Spicy and generous, lean-textured, with solid blackberry and currant flavors lingering on the finish. Fine tannins bode well for its potential. Drinkable now through 1997.
