Eucalyptus and tobacco flavors give this wine a distinctive personality but dominate the light cherry flavors. Firm tannins allow it to stand up to grilled meats. Best from 2000 through 2003.
Heritage and enterprise are hallmarks of Santa Rita, one of Chile’s premier wine estates. Founded in 1880 by Domingo Fernandez in Chile’s Maipo Valley, this historic property was among the first to pioneer plantings of European grape varieties in Chile. In 1980, it was acquired by its late owner, Ricardo Claro, under whom Santa Rita has reaped the rewards of continuous investment, resulting in a period of impressive growth, during which the winery has consolidated its position in the vanguard of Chile’s most successful and innovative estates. The dynamic Reserva Series has a well-structured, fruity and youthful style, perfect for any occasion. The winemaker’s objective is to create wines that optimally reflect the typical characteristics of each variety, both in aromas and flavors. At the same time, these wines are elegant and delicately balanced with a complex structure, high concentration and round, long-lasting expression. Production Area Maipo Valley, Chile Grape Varieties 100% Syrah Vinification Partially crushed grapes are cold-macerated before fermentation for 5 days at a temperature below 41°F. Fermentation is carried out at 77°F with selected yeasts, followed by a 10-day maceration period. The wine is aged for 12-14 months in French and American oak barrels. Color Deep ruby Bouquet Lively aromas of violets, sweet tobacco and juicy blackberries, delicately balanced by a delightful hint of oak Taste Bold, supple black fruit flavors perfectly combined with ripe, smooth tannins and a well rounded, medium body Alcohol 13.8% Serving Suggestions Ideal served with red meats, pastas and cheeses.
Klare rubinrote Farbe. Im Bukett finden Sie reife rote Früchte und Pflaumen, verbunden mit einer Nuance Vanille. Er hat einen mittleren Körper und eine feine Struktur.
A clean, basic red wine that's focused on standard berry and cherry aromas and flavors. Fresh but simple, with limited raspberry and cherry flavors along with a touch of vanilla. Competent but entirely regular.
Bright ruby. Attractive aromas of cherry, raspberry, cola and black pepper. Sweet, supple and round, with good intensity to the straightforward dark fruit flavors. In no way complex but very easy to drink and avoiding the greenness of so many inexpensive (and expensive!) merlots. Finishes with lingering sweetness and an echo of pepper.
Smoke, herbal and plum aromas lead into a light-bodied, graceful Merlot that sports crushed raspberry followed by easy tannins on the finish. Drink now.
This deep, ruby red colored wine has a medium body, good concentration, fine balance and ripe tannins. Its intense fruit aroma is dominated by violets, tobacco and blackberries wonderfully highlighted by oak notes.
