Viña Peñalolén Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Love this wine's depth and complexity. It pairs very well with steak, as I have had on a few occasions. Notes of dark fruits, tobacco and mocha make this one of my faves.
This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot has a full, earthy, dark berry aroma that transports you to Chile. Wine experts will scoff, but why do I detect more than a hint of Malbec flavor in this wine despite its absence in the blend? Is it the Maipo valley Chilean soil that transfers overlapping flavors to various grape varietals? Wine Spectator gave it 88 points. That seems about right to me. It definitely tastes better as it opens, and decanting for at least half an hour is prudent. This vintage is meant to be paired with savory meats, and sharp cheese. The best taste description would be dark berry, pepper, toasted nut, and tobacco with a balanced finish. Great value for the price. Enjoy!

Quite minty, but fleshy and balanced, displaying good dark currant and mulled plum fruit backed by a broad, toast- and loam-filled finish. Drink now.
Vivid ruby. Powerful aromas of cherry, dried flowers, licorice and mint, plus a touch of woodsmoke. Then broad and creamy on the palate, offering gently sweet red berry and cherry flavors and slow-mounting spiciness. The finish shows subtle sweetness and good tannic grip; this is still quite youthful but shows good promise.
Dark ruby red, spice box, red fruits, good depth and concentration, medium-long finish.
Stylish, with mint and sage notes leading the way for a supple palate of red cherry, black cherry and currant laced with hints of cedar and mineral. Drink now through 2010.
Dark red. Spicy red berries and herbs on the nose. Fresh redcurrant and cherry flavors are light in body and refreshingly tangy, with no obvious tannins. A bitter chocolate note adds edge to the tightly focused finish. Iandrsquo;d give this a bit more bottle aging, or decant it.
Bright red. Pungent aromas of red currant, cherry compote, licorice and smoky herbs. Sappy, nicely focused red fruit flavors become spicier with air and are supported by tangy acidity. Finishes with good nervy persistence and a faintly bitter quality. Give this some air or a year or two of bottle age.
Richly textured, with layers of herbal tea, licorice, eucalyptus and spicebox intermingling with deep black fruit flavors. Incredible complexity for the price! The 15 months spent in French oak add toasty mocha and subtle spice elements, while the small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot blended with the 85% Cabernet Sauvignon give it just the right amount of lift and roundness. Very food-friendly andmdash; try pairing with herb-crusted lamb, hearty vegetarian dishes (especially with zucchini) or beef with goat cheese.
