Viña Misiones de Rengo Carménère Rapel Valley Reserva 2008
Color: Intense, deep violet red. Aroma: Exressive and intense, with aromas of wild flowers, coffee, a bit of smoke, and a subtle note of mocha. Flavor: God attack, with sweet, delicate, soft and well-rounded tannins. Good balance between fuit an oak, with aromas of chocolate, tofee and sweet spice such as cinnamon.
Editorial Reviews for Viña Misiones de Rengo Carménère Rapel Valley Reserva
Fairly smoky on the nose and while there is a nice background note of herb and some almost vegetal licorice it's really quite fruity with big black berry and black plum tones that are framed with vanilla and toasty spice notes. On the palate this is a fairly rich wine, not weighty, but with good depth of flavor and a nice bed of tannins that keeps this tense but still supple. The fruit has nice black raspberry notes with a touch of a meaty edge and a long finish of lightly peppery, spicy toasty oak. A style that combines that flavors of rather ripe fruit with the feel of a cooler climate wine. This should have very broad appeal, likely to please novice and collector alike. 90pts
