Vina Los Vascos "Le Dix de Los Vascos" 2002
In commemoration of the 10th years of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)’s work in Chile, the exceptional quality of some of the cuvées led to the selection of an exceptional wine. Le Dix de Los Vascos originates from 50-year-old vines located in the parcel known as “Los Frailes”, is aged in new French oak barrels. It is only produced in very limited quantities, depending on the concentration and the finesse of the vintage (there was no “Le Dix” in 1998). The absolutely unusual rainfall at the end of March caused real concern prior to the harvest. Fortunately, harvest took place normally, under good weather conditions in the Colchagua area. Previous summer months had been warm, after a rainy spring. The growing season developed under very good climatic conditions for the grapes. Le Dix 2002 is of a deep intense ruby color with an elegant nose full of black cherries within a nice background of black fruits, oak. It is succulent in the mouth with live crispy tannins and vibrant fruit. It is pleasantly long while being full bodied and fresh.
