Viña Errazuriz Cabernet Sauvignon Halves 2009
The Errazuriz Estate was founded in 1870 when Don Maximiano Errazuriz planted his first vineyards at Panquehue in the Aconcagua Valley - 100km North of the capital. Recognising that this valley, with its cool, rainy winters, hot, dry summers and moist Pacific Ocean breezes, was ideal for growing grapes, Don Maximiano sent for the finest clones from France and with tenacity and perseverance transformed this barren land into a world class vineyard.Today, the tradition of quality lives on with Don Maximiano's descendant Eduardo Chadwick. Eduardo is the fifth generation of his family to be involved in the wine business. The grapes for the Errazuriz Estate Cabernet Sauvignon came from our vineyards in the Valle de Aconcagua just a few miles from our flagship Don Maximiano Estate. The grapes were hand-picked from late April through the second week of May and transported to the winery in bins. The fruit was crushed into stainless steel tanks and fermented immediately. The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is an attractive ruby-red with a nose that shows pleasing notes of sour cherries and strawberries intermingled with tobacco. The juicy palate is medium-bodied with a solid structure, a level of acidity that is very nicely balanced by its firm yet sweet tannins, and a pleasing finish.

Hints of menthol lend freshness to this wine's seductively ripe black fruit. Its potent structure needs a couple years in the bottle to mellow.
Shows more traditional clay, mineral and smote notes on the nose, but then has a polished, modern, extracted palate. Currant, plum and cassis flavors ride over sweet, ripe tannins, turning toasty on the finish. Lots to like here. To be released April 2001; drink upon release.
If you are seeking well made wines that are also great values, choose the wines of Chile. Try this charmer and experience the delight.
Lots to admire in this full-bodied, flavor packed Cabernet. Concentrated, blackberry, currant and sweet summer ripe fruits with a satisfying, lumbering texture. Robust, weighty and spiced, yet remains friendly with balanced tannin.
From Chile comes this muscular red, showing firm tannins under chocolate, licorice, black olive and plum flavors. A good, affordable option in Cabernet, it's rich enough for food and balanced enough to improve through 2000.
A good forward style, with a mix of plum, cherry, herb and toast notes, followed by honest grip on the medium-weight finish. Drink now.
Solid, modern fruit - cassis and black currant - with ample smoke and chocolate notes, and a nice bit of grip on the finish. Forward and tasty. Drink now.
