Vina Dona Paula Malbec Seleccion de Bodega 2007
Dona Paulas icon wine the Seleccion de Bodega Malbec is one of the leading collector wines coming from Argentina. It is only made in the best vintages, when the ideal fruit allows the estate to obtain this stunning, complex Malbec. It is produced from vineyards over 30 years of age and is handled to obtain limited yields. With a sober and elegant presentation, denoting a wine elaborated exclusively for the cognizant. Dona Paula:Intense deep Violet colour; clean aromas of black forest berries, pencil lead, graphite nose, black cherry, mocha and spice box.It is probably the best and one of the most structured version of our icon Malbec, keeping intact its elegance, finesse and multilayered expression. At Dona Paula our vineyards and wines have always been managed using Sustainable Agriculture practices. Wine Spectator:Shows both power and purity, with dark currant, fig and ganache notes spiked with brighter blueberry and violet hints. The long finish drips with fruit and manages to stay fresh, with a hint of pastis hanging on. Drink now through 2012. Wine Advocate:Dona Paula's Seleccion de Bodega Malbec is a glass-staining opaque purple. It was fermented with native yeasts and aged in new French oak for 24 months. The nose reveals an aromatic array of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry. Dense, layered, and full-bodied, it has gobs of spicy black fruit, enough structure to evolve for 3-5 years, and a lengthy, pure finish. It will offer prime drinking from 2013 to 2026. Argentinian Malbec and its finest! Vintage: 2006 Varietals: 100% Estate grown Malbec Alcohol: 14.5% Acidity: 6 g/l (Tartaric acid) Res Sugar: 2.36 g/l pH: 3.6
Dark - almost black robe. Slow to open in the glass with muted creme de cassis and stewed plum. A smooth entry, with quite warm dark fruit flavors. Medium, somewhat alcoholic finish but with nice soft tannins. All in all, a reasonable value - if a bit on the rustic side.
Los Cardos, Lujan de Cuyo: Opaque black plum hue, aromas of dark berries and herbs; flavor notes of stewed black cherries, tart red and black berries, and mocha across a medium palate of supple tannins.
I would rate it 86 points. Dry but a little edgy. Meaning the tannin and bitter notes come out a little too much. Nose is restrained but clean.
Nice wine. Nose: lots of raspberries. spicy. Palate: more raspberry. great acid. Goes well with meat. Alc: 14%
Big jammy fruit on the nose with some detectable alcohol that made the nose a bit hot. Fruit forward on the palate with potent acidity and very noticeable yet finely textured tannins. Even with the high levels of acidity and tannin the wine still maintains a somewhat soft texture. Paired reasonably well with a beef tenderloin filet.
Mais complexo que o Luigi Bosca Reserva. Longo final
Has a good strawberry flavor, nice summer sipper. Good value at around $9. I had it with buffalo chicken pizza.

Winemaker's comments: This fruity and expressive wine reflects the great climatic and botanical characteristics of the Ugarteche and Tupungato terroirs and particularly their ability to produce fresh white wines. These locations allow us to obtain modern wines especially renown for their joviality and freshness with a great aromatic richness typical of the Chardonnay variety. On the palate the wine is large and consistent with a great range of flavours leaving a very pleasant finish. The very subtle note of toast and vanilla coming from brief contact with French oak adds to the complexity of the wine.
This chardonnay shows a delicate greenish-yellow color with golden highlights. On the nose, it is ripe, rich, expressive and displays aromas of pears, peaches, apricots and citric fruits, which are integrated with the seductive mineral notes, spices, and toasted flavors that come from perfectly integrated oak. It is harmonious on the palate with an interesting structure and a long lingering finish.

This wine is one of our best examples of well integrated oak, where expression of fruit, elegance and richness are the main attributes. With a red violet color, the aromas of our Dona Paula Estate Cabernet Sauvignon2007 present black fruits, blackcurrant and bell pepper, combined with spice box and graphite notes in different layers. It is medium bodied, with fresh acidity and a pleasant finish.
