In the mouth, bright acids and nice firm tannins are buried in a core of sweet and sour Jolly Rancher grapy fruit with hints of pomegranate. A little black currant and some black plum notes pop on the finish, which shows a bit of sticky sweetness. A polished, modern and fruity style. 89pts
This 2005 Airen has a clear, bright, yellow-straw color. There are flowery aromas on the nose, with intense pineapple and green apple notes. The palate is well structured, with body and class balancing the wine's acidity and freshness, ending with a long, persistent and sweet finish. This classic white wine is from Aresan's own 50 year old vineyards in Spain. Serve chilled on its own, or as a great accompaniment to any kind of fish, pate, and smoked salmon or cod. On first opening the nose is sandal wood and light red berries. The palate is cherries and some licorice and anis lurking in the background ending with a sweet dry cherry finish. With air the nose takes on character of cinnamon mole, hints of chocolate and ripe red berries. The palate shows some light red berry, coffee and menthol with a slight dry cedar finish.
Taking the good Chậteau Pesquié people at their collective word(s), I aged this wine to nearly the full recommended period (5 years). The results were good: here we have a wine with a menthol and medicinal nose with perhaps a bit of garrigue (if poetic license is stretched a bit). More garrigue and cherries on entry with muted tannins and a nice, clean medium finish. Good value in Ventoux.
My last experience with this wine, left me with an impression of an internationally style, however, on this night it came across and anything but that. The nose showed cherry liquor but was tempered by barnyard and a slight sawdust quality, which I found very attractive. On the palate, I found juicy blackberry fruit with spices and cracked black pepper. This wine started out linier on the front palate and gained great depth by the finish. It was highly enjoyable.
Bright and concentrated palate with a good balance of acidity and oak. Long cherry finish with notes of baking spices.
Pleasant Tempranillo, but nothing too special. Good backup table wine, if you get it on sale.
surprisingly great. warm, light purple in color. aroma is fabulous - fruity and spicy. solid but not overly strong tannin.

Cubillo is Lopez’s answer to Rioja Crianza. Following the style of all their wines, this wine could be labeled a class above - as a Reserva - but they keep it a Crianza. It compares to most other Rioja wineries’ Reservas since the wine is aged for three years in oak, followed by another two to three years in bottle. The resulting wine is fruit-forward but with very developed, older-wine aromas of cherries and spices.

Intense red color. Very good concentration on the nose, reminding aromas of dark fruits like blackberries and cassis. Juicy and fruity on the palate, with hints of coffee and leather given by the oak. Full bodied, silky tannins and long finish. Great combined with meats and strong cheeses.
