The growing season began with hot, dry Zonda (wind coming from the Andes, lowering the humidity to 0-5% in some cases, with warm temperatures) which affected the crop set, lowering the yields. Consistent read more...temperatures throughout a long summer allowed for slow and full ripening of the fruit, resulting in rich and opulent wines. (hide)

- ($85) Bright medium ruby. Primary but already aromatic nose combines superripe blackberry, black raspberry, violet pastille and mint. Dense, sweet, powerful and deep, with extremely youthful flavors of cassis, bitter chocolate and licorice. Chunky and a bit musclebound today, with strong notes of oaky torrefaction. Finishes with big but ripe tannins and some minty lift. This will require a year or two to harmonize and express itself.
