Food Pairings for Viña Cobos Malbec Felino
Very smooth. Blackberries and oak.
Bamboo and water chestnut dominate the nose in stunning and unusual fashion, and the savory note is present in the mouth as well, where it combines with dark fruit and a touch of citrus for a many-layered experience, the only defect being a somewhat bitter finish. (AV 88, http://argovino.com/?p=488)
Stewed fruits and toffee beckon in the nose, and they don’t disappoint – nice structure and a suitable density carry the flavors on through. Makes a good case for the combination of barrel (30%) and steel (70%) fermentation! (AV 87, http://argovino.com/?p=331)
With a nose of chocolate, fresh wood, and blackberries, the 2009 Bramare Malbec doesn't disappoint. It shows ample body and a luxurious texture. I wouldn't turn down a glass of this, if it was offered to me.
External Reviews for Viña Cobos Malbec Felino
Meaty, structured Malbec, with ripe berry fruit hidden under mineral and dark smoke notes. Needs just a little time. Drink now through 2003.
Ripe, with blackberry and raspberry fruit, hints of toast, game and mineral, and a juicy finish. Great buy. Drink now through 2005.
Bright medium ruby. Blackberry and spice on the nose, plus hints of meat and leather. Juicy, fruit-driven and on the lean side; not a fleshy wine but fresh, lively and pure. Offers an attractive light touch - and not at all short on the finish.
Bright ruby-red. Varietally expressive nose offers black cherry, blackberry, leather, bitter chocolate, coffee and a hint of sandalwood. A sweet, fresh midweight, not yet complex but offering good stuffing and backbone. Perhaps a bit youthfully sullen but serious for the price range. Harmonious already but I'd hold this for a year before popping the cork. Finishes with broad, dusty tannins. Very nicely made.
The 2007 Felino Malbec is a splendid introduction to this grape variety. The nose is redolent of wild black cherry leading to an elegant, ripe wine with gobs of flavor and 1-2 years of aging potential. Drink this hedonistic effort through 2015.
Really juicy, with a dark, ripe core of black currant, fig and plum fruit flavors layered with warm chocolate ganache and espresso. Has a sweet, caressing texture on the lengthy finish. Drink now through 2010.
