Viña Cobos Malbec Felino 2007
Aromas of black currant and spice accompany a deep garnet color to introduce this stylish cabernet sauvignon. The generous palate offers perfectly ripened black fruits framed with bittersweet cocoa and hints of tobacco and earth. Fine, ripe tannins and subtle mineral notes grace a lengthy finish.
Inky purple color with violet hues around the edge. Fairly sharp gradient from edge to center. Aromoas of alcohol, black cherries and hay. Smokey dary fruits (plums and cherries) from beginning to the middle. Fruit lingers on the palatte for a few minutes afterwards. Excellently balanced.
Very drinkable, excellent value, lots of chocolate on the nose.
Raspberry, Plum, Anise....hints of Ginger!!!...what's not to like?? This is one of my favorite wines of all time, there always seems to be something else I notice about it each time I drink it!
Hints of anise and chocolate. Very good for the price!
Favorite Malbec under 20.00$
A really nice Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza, it's round and balanced, with bright fruit and well adjusted tannins. Great depth for the price.

The 2007 Felino Malbec is a splendid introduction to this grape variety. The nose is redolent of wild black cherry leading to an elegant, ripe, wine with gobs of flavor and 1-2 years of aging potential. Drink this hedonistic effort through 2015. Vina Cobos is Paul Hobbs winery in Mendoza.

Vina Cobos is Paul Hobbs’ winery in Mendoza. He is better known (at least for the moment) to USA connoisseur/collectors for his namesake winery in Napa Valley which has received many accolades (including 100-point scores from Robert Parker) for its Cabernets, Pinot Noirs, and Chardonnays. What is less well known is that Hobbs is a pioneer in fine wine production in Argentina, having started there in 1988 with Nicolas Catena. Senor Catena gives Hobbs much credit for the success of Catena-Zapata’s Chardonnay program. He has since extended his consulting efforts both in Argentina and Chile but the capstone of Hobbs' work is Vina Cobos which began in 1998 and moved into its own winery facility in 2007." (12/08) This is Cobos' most sophisticated Felino malbec yet. It carries a deep magenta hue and aromas of dark berries and anise. On the palate, intense, pure flavors of just-picked raspberries, black plum and graphite unfold in velvety layers. Exotic notes of ginger and white pepper carry through the mid-palate to intermingle with firm tannins and notes of cedar on the finish.
The purple-colored 2007 Felino Cabernet Sauvignon offers up spicy black currants and blackberry. Smooth-textured and layered, it has excellent balance and a lengthy, pure finish. Itandrsquo;s hard to think of a better value in Cabernet Sauvignon.
Meaty, structured Malbec, with ripe berry fruit hidden under mineral and dark smoke notes. Needs just a little time. Drink now through 2003.

Ripe plum and blackberry fruit, with suave toast and cocoa notes. Long, juicy finish really shows off the fruit. Drink now through 2005.
