What to Expect
Carmenère is one of a small group of wines that thrives in its adopted land but struggles to gain acceptance at home. It still is used on occasion in France's Bordeaux region where it adds color and complexity to blends with its distinctive mélange of smoky, herbal and gamy tones. In South America, particularly Chile, it ripens fully and the wines take on added layers of dark berry fruit that gives it a balance rarely achieved in France.

surprised with the rich body once it's breathed, good everyday wine!
The color is characteristic of the variety, both deep and somewhat matte. Great aromatic intensity, with a vegetal character reminiscent of cooked green beans, black pepper, dried chili peppers, and dried grass. High acidity, persistent, and consistent with the characteristics of the variety. read more...
