Viña Casas Patronales Sauvignon Blanc Valle del Maule 2011
This straw-coloured wine has fruity aromas with notes of pineapple, freshly cut grass and hints of lemon. It is friendly and very lively on the palate, juicy and has a smooth finish. These wines have a powerful, fruity expression that reveals each variety without embellishment, unveiling all its flavours and aromas. These wines are perfect for drinking every day with meals or as an aperitif.
very good wine under ten bucks. it's like smashing the intensity and robustness of a malbec with the silkiness of a good bordeaux; it takes a little while to open up but when it does it gets chocolaty with black cherries, plums, and currant that carry over to the palate leaving you satisfied and surprised. and you can leave it open for four days and it'll hold itself together and get a little better, a little tobacco-y.
A whole lot of wine for 8 bucks!!
Very aromatic, with asparagus, gooseberry, and gravel dominating the nose. The wine is nicely acidic, with grapefruit definitely making an appearance, especially from mid-palate to the finish. I find that this wine shows a bit better warmer, rather than too chilled.
Typical of a Chilean Sauv Blanc. Has a slight apple front with a hint of peaches and finishes heavy on citrus. Good wine for the price.
My notes are old on this wine, but they read "Medium body, smooth, dry, good spices. Liked the cherry, a bit acidy". But I do remember really liking it!
I enjoyed thsi wine with chicken dish made with roasted lemons and olives over baby spinach. I thought it would be a difficult dish to match wine to. I was wrong. I am not a particular fan of sauvignon blanc but I found it very flavorful and the grapefruit prevalent on the finish. I would drink this wine again.
