Viña Casas Patronales Sauvignon Blanc Valle del Maule 2007
Vina Casas Patronales is located in the beautiful Chileanncountryside of the Valle De Maule, San Clemente area. A region that has been acclaimed for producing excellent wines since the beginning of the last century. Soft yellow grass color. Nose: very intense and complex aroma of passion fruit, lemon, and grapefruit citrus undertones. Palate: A soft blend of grapefruit with a nice balance of flavors, long and clean citrus finish
My notes are old on this wine, but they read "Medium body, smooth, dry, good spices. Liked the cherry, a bit acidy". But I do remember really liking it!
I enjoyed thsi wine with chicken dish made with roasted lemons and olives over baby spinach. I thought it would be a difficult dish to match wine to. I was wrong. I am not a particular fan of sauvignon blanc but I found it very flavorful and the grapefruit prevalent on the finish. I would drink this wine again.
Absolutely fantastic with thai red curry dishes. Always a favorite with goat cheese as well...can't wait to open the next bottle!
