Vina Carmen Sa Classics Gewürztraminer 2008
Deep red, smooth and rich, dark chocolate, plums and blackcurrants with a touch of spice - yum!
I love the depth and dark chocolate hints (tried 2008)
Vegetal? Label says: 13.5% alcohol blackberries, rhubarb, cherries, soft chocolate, vanilla and pepper
Nice Carmenere for the value for sure. Starts off with light sour cherry, but quicky becomes a deeper darker fruit and finishes to a little pepper and perhaps a little green pepper. There is a little smoothness due to oak.
This wine is a thin wine. It is very subtle in its way of revealing the different tastes this wine has to offer. When smelling one first notes very ripe cherry’s (amarena cherries) but later this turns to cassis. The taste however is completely different. Different kinds of licorice come forward, maybe a hint of laurel? But the original grape flavor is still there too! (lightly sweet cassis) The wine has quite a bit of tannins but it is a fun wine to drink. Not a very hard hitting top-end wine... but a wine you, as a lover can enjoy, but your less educated (in wine!) guests can also appreciate as a "good" wine. Even though I am still a beginner myself in the world of wine I feel confident you will taste the same.
