Viña Caliterra Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2010
Caliterra was established in 1996 as a joint venture between the families of Robert Mondavi and Viña Errazuriz. In January 2004 Viña Errazuriz became the sole owners of Caliterra, at the heart of which is the impressive 1000ha Caliterra Estate. The name Caliterra is taken from 'Calidad' spanish for quality and 'Tierra' - land. The wine making philosophy of Caliterra is to produce environmentaly friendly quality wines in the heart of the Colchagua Valley. The focus is around the 1000ha Caliterra estate in Colchagua where 242ha are currently under vine. Crucially a large proportion of this estate, and all new plantings, are on prime hillside sites resulting in high quality fruit and complex wines. Caliterra as a truly International brand, the focus has been on developing export markets as the basis for supporting growth. Today, Caliterra is sold in 50 countries on five continents. This 'Sauvignon Blanc Reserva' is characterized by a beautiful yellow pale colour similar to straw and slight greenish tones on the edge of the glass are characteristics of this wine. For this wine there is a predominance of tropical fruit aromas such as guava, grapefruit and tangerine. A touch of mineral notes intermingles perfectly with the fruit achieving a pleasant combination. On the palate, the wine is tasty, fresh, very stimulating, ending with a well balance between acidity and sweetness.
External Reviews for Viña Caliterra Sauvignon Blanc Reserva
An elegant, aromatic wine with a pale yellow/green color. The lively aromas feature tropical fruit, especially passion fruit and pineapple, together with notes of white peach, lemon and herbs. A distinctive mineral note is lightly evident on the nose and carries through to the palate. The mouthfeel is soft, round, and full. Good volume and acidity balance the ripe fruit, creating harmony and a long finish. The wine is made to enjoy in its youth, while the ripe fruit character is at its freshest.
A fresh, approachable wine, with intense varietal character of pineapple, grapefruit and lemon. On the palate, the creamy texture is balanced by lively acidity and good structure.
