Cocoa, pomegranate, pencil lead, bit of ivy and herbs, blueberry, very aromatic, super fine herbaceous notes, violet, herbal, violet pastille, little paprika, smooth, ripe, a bit soft, ashy, lots of slightly extracty fruit, blueberry, blackberry, black currant, spicy, mineral hints on the background, good length, rich and intense, succulent almost cranberry note on the finish, sweet tannin finish, lightly jammy wild blueberry finish, beautifully integrated and powerful. 94pts

88% Cabernet Sauvignon 12% Merlot. At first glance this wine is super dark and literally black at the core. On the nose a nice balance of fruit earth and wood notes. On the palate flavors of boysenberry raspberry blackberry graphite coffee and vanilla are all incredibly well integrated at this point. This wine has massive tannins but they are soft and elegant. Should be an outstanding Mouton. John Sweeney.

The purest Cabernet Sauvignon fruit with dark chocolate and intense dark berry flavors. The tannins are so enveloped by the fruit and yet they promise great aging. At this stage wood shows through the fruit but the texture is so rich and opulent that it should easily become integrated. R.V. Wine Enthusiast.

but with an intensity of superpolished tannins. It finishes with complex yet reserved coffee

I am speechless over the nose in this wine. Mint, blackberry, currant and black licorice turn to flowers such as lilacs and roses. Wow. It fills your mouth with the same fruit, but with an intensity of superpolished tannins. It finishes with complex yet reserved coffee, toasted oak and ripe fruit and then in two or three minutes it becomes milk chocolate. Just a joy to taste. Best Mouton since 1982 or 1986; in fact, it¿s like a bend of the two. A perfect Mouton? 88 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 12 percent Merlot.

Winemaker's Notes:

(made from 73% cabernet sauvignon, 22% carmenere, 4% cabernet franc and 1% merlot, raised for 18 months in new French barriques): Youthful purple color. Primary dark berry and cherry pit aromas are complemented by notes of vanillin oak, mocha and Indian spices. Broad and fleshy on the palate, offering sweet blueberry and cassis flavors and suggestions of dark chocolate, cola and vanilla. Becomes smokier with air and finishes with very good clarity and strong spicy persistence. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar The Count and Countess Almaviva are characters from Beaumarchais' (and Mozart's) _Marriage of Figaro_*very limited quantity - please check for availability*
