User Reviews for Villalin Quincy Traditional

Winemaker's Notes:

"The Quincy from Domaine Villalin hails from a one and a half hectare parcel of vines on the eastern side of the Cher River- which has the finest soils of the appellation (fully ninety-eight percent of the appellation of Quincy is across the river on the western side), with much more flint in the style of Pouilly-Fumé, rather than the deeper, chalky clay found in most of Quincy. The nose on the 2010 Grandes Vignes de Villalin offers up a deep and vibrant nose of gooseberry, pink grapefruit, beautifully complex soil tones, lime peel, cut grass and a topnote of citrus blossoms. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and racy, with great refinement for Quincy, with a superb core of fruit, brisk acids and outstanding focus and grip on the very long and complex finish...93" JG 1/12 "A lovely nose evoking leafy and flowering things rises from the glass of 2010 Quincy Cuvee Villalin, along with a pungent suggestion of crushed stone – and the buoyant, elegant, juicy palate that follows is a perfect vehicle for incorporating persistently wafting florality. There is a brothy underlying sense of richness suffused with crushed stone and saliva-liberating salt that complements the wine’s snappy fresh apple and lime and keeps it from becoming downright austere or its piquancy of fruit pip too dominantly bitter. The finish really grips..." WA 07/12
