Villa Wolf Riesling Dry 2008
The Villa Wolf label is used for a line of varietal wines that supplement J.L. Wolf estate-grown fruit with grapes from contracted growers. This allows Ernst Loosen to make classic Pfalz wines from traditional varieties and offer them at a very attractive price. The Villa Wolf Riesling Dry shows the pure stone fruit and rich texture that are typical of the weathered sandstone soils of the Pfalz region.
dry and stoney. Like a beach rock left out in the sun. except after that, the rock is dipped in granny smith apple juice and thrown in the freezer. almost zero fruit and i can't stress the dryness enough.
2-10-13. WIne is dark straw color. some mustiness on the smell..fairly aromatic. very minor band aid smell. reminds me of an italian pinot grigio smell but not quite..hints of almond, apricot. smooth dark cool wet stone. taste is not initially totally dry..stonefruit..definitely refreshing..lime..crisp acidity but balanced. more apricot, frozen granny smith is good to borrow a phrase. petrol. i like it. would be nice with food and easy because its well balanced. not too hot but a touch of alcohol. good-great for $11
