Villa Wolf Pinot Noir Rosé 2009
The Villa Wolf label is used for a value-priced line of varietal wines that combine J.L. Wolf estate-grown fruit with grapes from contracted growers. These are exceptionally affordable, classic Pfalz wines from traditional varieties. The Villa Wolf Rosé de Pinot Noir is a true rosé, made with a brief maceration before pressing to extract a lovely salmon color. It is light and refreshing, with bright berry and fruit flavors and a clean, zippy finish.
Drink as cold as possible. I wish Villa Wolf would package this up in little plastic bags and sell it as "adult freeze pops". Not overly sweet, but sweet enough to enjoy as a frozen treat. If you buy multiple bottles of this I highly suggest you pour one bottle into an ice tray, stick toothpicks in, and freeze em up. Alcoholic adult treats fro everyone!
This is a bright rose that must be served cold. I paired it with smoked salmon and it was quite delicious. It does get a bit fruity if it is not paired with food.
tried it at great fish restaurant, Riverside: West Bay, Bridport, UK; nicely chilled with Brill [great local white fish], more complex than expected fruit & mineral balance
