Villa Raiano Taurasi 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Villa Raiano is a modern family winery established in Campania in 1996. The estate is dedicated to producing a range of superb wines from local varieties Aglianico, Fiano and Greco - sourced from 20 hectares of their own organically farmed vines. While Raiano might be a relative spring chicken compared to some of Italy's grand historic estates, they are already garnering praise and winning top awards. Matured in large oak barrels for 24 months, before further ageing in bottle. The intense nose shows ripe plum and blackberry fruit, with smoky oak and savoury notes. The palate is rich but also shows wonderful finesse, with violet hints, sour cherry and almond. A well structured wine with grippy tannins and good balance, this is enjoyable now and perfect for Christmas, but will also cellar well for 10-15 years.
