Bouquet of violet and lavender with strong red currant and some wet stone aromas. Rose petal. Pretty and fragrant. On the palate, a good acid profile. Fresh currant and red berry fruit. It's a floral, feminine style. Some fresh green herbs. Minerality with indications of pencil shavings. It's vibrant and pretty, but as time goes, the acidity builds and becomes a tad abrasive. Some light earth tones keep it interesting. Overall, a nice wine. 89 pts.

Winemaker's Notes:

The esteemed Burgundian house of Bouchard, part of the Henriot enterprise, now has taken the reins of Villa Ponciago (once the historic, thousand year-old Beaujolais estate called Chateau de Poncie). *Technically this is _Cru Beaujolais_ but there the resemblance ends*. More full and Burgundy in style with lots of grip, dark fruit flavors and a finish that goes on and on. _DON'T MISS_."Now that the Ch. de Poncié belongs to Henriot, it has been renamed Villa Ponciago. Dark crimson. Firm and has good attack on the nose. Very confident winemaking. Attractively dry on the finish. [Delicious now but will take some age.] Well done! Real sap and structure to this wine."
