The reasonably priced 2001 Borgoforte IGT (equal parts Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits a dark ruby color along with a sweet perfume of red and black fruits intertwined with notions of tobacco leaves, new saddle leather, and earth. Drink this medium-bodied, well-made Italian red over the next 1-2 years.
Aromas of tea, berry and leather. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and fruity, leathery aftertaste.
A good red, with cherry and dried herb character. Medium-bodied, with firm tannins and a slightly austere finish. Needs food to mellow it out. Drink now.
