Beautiful wine! Opened my first bottle in august 2010, and the second in late feb 2011. very rich, dark colour and deep spicey nose. It has a very nice full flavour with berry and what they describe as "coffee" undernotes. For the price, one of my favourites. A fantastic kiwi wine. According to Villa Maria, it can cellar up to 2016.

Tried this wine in 2010. Simple initally with nice red berry fruit but over 5 days showed it's fine grain as it unfolded with an Anise underlay. Should develop for a 3-4 more years. Quite stunning nose and consistent on the palate.

Extremely smooth and silky in texture, this elegantly crafted wine features aromas and flavors of cedar, sassafras and chocolate, with some berry fruit showing through on the finish. It's not a big, sturdy wine, so pair it with something more delicat... Wine Enthusiast. A Proprietary Blend wine from Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. 2006 Villa Maria Merlot-Cabernet Private Bin 750ml
