Villa Maria Cabernet-Merlot Cellar Selection 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2007 vintage produced some outstanding Hawkes Bay red wines. This wine promotes layers of berry and dark plum flavours combined with complex cedar and savoury characters. This wine is richly concentrated in style and is complemented by fine-grained tannins, ensuring the wine is approachable and capable of developing further complexity with medium-term aging.

Tried this wine in 2010. Simple initally with nice red berry fruit but over 5 days showed it's fine grain as it unfolded with an Anise underlay. Should develop for a 3-4 more years. Quite stunning nose and consistent on the palate.
