Add your reviewBlack and purple plum with smoky vanilla on the nose. Flavors of black fruit, tobacco, spice, vanilla and even notes of venison jerky, white pepper and soy. Interesting, complexly layered wine. Nice. 89 pts. 9/1/12 at winery
Absolutely delicious, not as dry as some of the spanish gra/temp blends. This is a well put together wine that is easily drinkable by itself, I feel that it is fuller then a pinot noir, while not losing the fruit, and lighter & less dry then a CSM blend. It is reminiscent of the GSM blends out of Australia, but not as jammy, prob b/c of the lack of Syrah/Shiraz.

Red Blend: 65% Tempranillo, 30% Grenache, 5% Mourvedre Ohana Vineyard Tempranillo, Denner Vineyard Grenache and Mourvedre TASTING NOTES: Our second crop from Simon and Hillary Gravesâ TM Ohana vineyard further confirmed my initial thoughts that their site should be great for Tempranillo. At a meager 1.2 tons per acre the clusters were loose and of medium size. After a gentle destemming the fruit was placed into a 5 ton fermentor and sealed for cold soak. After day five native yeasts kicked off fermentation. Punch downs were conducted 3 times a day with delestage every other day. The wine was pressed sweet as to not extract any harsh seed tannins into new French ( Tarrensaud and Bel Air) barrels along with Mendocino Cooperage northern 3 year air dried American oak. The nose shows dark fruits, tar, smoked meats and crushed rock. The palate is muscular with firm well integrated tannins with flavors of black mountain fruits, black tea, and mushrooms. If you didnt know what you were drinking here you might think it was actually from Spain! APPEARANCE: dark purple NOSE: black fruits, cocoa, freshly turned earth, and tapenade. PALATE: plush, ripe black fruits, molasses, tobacco and spice, lengthy tannins that will allow for 8-10 years of cellaring.
