Lighter-style, Grenache-based red blend from southern France. Delicious in the spring and summer months mdash; the Petite Caprice is packed with flavor without being overwhelming. Bright red berry fruit notes, tempered by gentle earth and a touch of spice. An excellent partner for grilled tuna, pork chops or seared veggies.

Cousins with the famed Châteauneuf-du-Pape region in the southern Rhône area, Gigondas is noted for rustic, full-bodied reds with a lush, warm texture. The Coudoulières is easy-drinking and well-valued for the price point. Dark and juicy flavors with intense smokiness.

Juicy, with nice dark cherry, briar, grilled herb and mineral notes that linger nicely on the finish.

Rarely am I disappointed with a rose from the Côtes du Rhône - concentrated, dry, with a solid vein of minerality throughout that keeps the wine fresh and endows it with some depth. Fresh, light-bodied and dry with tinges of plum and strawberry fruits on the palate. I would pair this wine with salmon pâté and some soft cheeses.

This deep red wine has flavors of red fruit, spice and a hint of gaminess. Enjoy with duck, beef or Provençal dishes.

Cotes du Rhone rosés are somewhat rare; the demand for reds is so high that little is left to produce a rosé. This is the good stuff, produced from the free-run juice of Grenache and Syrah, and usually sold to friends and neighbors in the Rhône Valley. This year we got them to give up a few cases, so you could enjoy this little bit of summer in a glass.

Light and fresh, with enticing pepper and cherry notes and a nice, slightly crisp finish. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now.
