This crowd pleaser is a blend of 50% Grenache, 45% Syrah, and 5% Mourvedre mdash; the classic Rhone blend mdash; and highlights juicy berry flavors and mineral hints from the sunny hillsides of the region. Itrsquo;s classy enough to accompany just about any elegant dinner fare, but is also a knockout with more casual foods.
Once again, here is another great value that you should make sure you check out. With the barbecue season coming, this Côtes du Rhône would be the perfect complement to all those grilled meats. This medium-bodied wine is loaded with fresh cassis and red fruit flavors. The smooth, velvety texture makes this very approachable and easy to drink.
With summer quickly approaching, now would be a good time to find a red wine for lighter foods and hot weather. Entering stage left, Petit Caprice. Much like the warm, comfortable weather of a summer in Vaucluse, this wine pairs well with barbecued foods suchas grilled pork tenderloin or jerk chicken. Aromas of crushed cherries and raspberries tantalize and distract your sense of smell while flavors of cranberry essence and strawberry Jolly Ranchers beat up your taste buds. This wine has the backbone to stand up to barbecue and most medium-intensity foods, while still being able to refresh and satisfy.
Cotes du Rhone rosés are somewhat rare; the demand for reds is so high that little is left to produce a rosé. This is the good stuff, produced from the free-run juice of Grenache and Syrah, and usually sold to friends and neighbors in the Rhône Valley. This year we got them to give up a few cases, so you could enjoy this little bit of summer in a glass.
Very solid, with a pronounced racy graphite note framing the cocoa, black tea, raspberry ganache and spice notes. The long finish has a high-toned cherry hint. Drink now through 2010.
Has an aromatic cherry and prune nose, with a brilliant raspberry flavor accompanied by a slight jammy earth tone. It has a fruit forward entrance with a sharp clean finish. It goes great with hot dogs and burgers in the summer. Drink now through 2011.
Light and fresh, with enticing pepper and cherry notes and a nice, slightly crisp finish. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now.
