A deep, dark red color. Not a wine for the timid as aromas of Spice cookies, toast, bacon fat and black pepper burst from the glass. The fruit on the nose is almost an afterthought and shows as a mix of currant and dried plum. Medium bodied on the palate with raspberry fruit, cedar and spicy clove. The finish is long and lingering with a bit of rough tannin. This is drinking great now but could probably stand another year or two before it hits its plateau. It took about an hour to show it's true colors but it was worth the wait.
Rating 84; Nose is balanced but weak. Taste dry and pale without any remarkable taste sensations. This wine advertised itself as 10 years old. They should have sold it 7 years ago. Good trick of the reseller to relabel that wine. Too expensive $ 10.- At Costco

I tried my first VT at my repas de l'annee $400 lunch at Lucas Carton around 2000. Do not remember the year of the bottle -- but it was amazing. Since then have tried subsequent years and liked them all.
old rating from WM. I matured vin. 2000 in proper cellar and corked last one 11/2010. It was beatiful. the rim in glass quite broad and close to light red brick of colour. Nose: fantastic, deep parfume, cranberries etc. but weight on first one. pine/spruce forrest? taste: very balanced, smooth, with velvety tannins, yet enough powerful for game etc. quite complex and looong aftertaste. I'm not sure when you can rate 5* (at least with price when bought with this one) for wine, but this goes easily in my top 10 wines for now. -yes, I've tasted more than 11 wines ;) J-
