Soft and fruity; reminiscent of an ageing Spanish Tempranillo. Quite a light wine; personal taste being for a more full bodied wine. Very pleasant.
Incredible amount of tannin. Heavy on the Merlot in the blend. Dry and mouth smacking. Opens up with time if you let it sit. Wonderful notes of oak to an overall dark berry taste. Medium bodied and complex.
WOW! This wine has reached it's pinnacle I believe and I am so glad I found this rogue bottle. Deep, rich and well balanced while being super concentrated. This is a powerful, yet graceful cab and it drinking exquisitely right now. If you can find it, drink it now!
Decanted 30 min. Nose of earth, smoke and blueberry fruit. Attack and mid-palate are similar, with a tar component appearing as well. I love the earthiness and big blueberry flavors. This went very well with a vegetarian pizza. One of my favorite offerings from Stolpman, I'm extremely disappointed they discontinued this cuvee. The latest release of their Estate Syrah has 15% Grenache, so I'm *hoping* it will be similar to this wine (especially since I'm down to my last bottle!).
Great fruit, earthiness and mineral flavors. Blueberry pops nicely.
Had this twice in the last 2-3 weeks and enjoyed. Nice, complex, what you would expect from a Napa Cab, nothing extraordinary but very solid.
A lot of candied fruit covering up a lot of tannin. Good with beef. An in your face wine. A little softer tannins and less overripe fruit would be more to my taste.

Mature black fruit and a velvety palate recommend this bodega's top of the line offering. The grapes are from a selected vineyard plot that was planted in 1920. Powerful yet elegant, lush yet complex, it features potent, sweet tannins, graphite, chocolate and chewy dark fruit, and excellent acidity.
A selection of the finest barrels, the 2003 Syrah The Governor reveals toasty new oak along with abundant blackberry, blueberry, and licorice notes, and hints of camphor and flowers. Full-bodied, dense, and rich, it will benefit from 1-2 more years of bottle age, and should last for a decade or more. Inky purple. Sexy aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, violet and vanilla custard, complicated by spicy oak. Theres big-time oak going on, but also plenty of ripe, luscious dark berry fruit that verges on liqueur-like. Fat, broad and sweet on the finish, the oak spice coming up strong. Theres clearly great material and sex appeal here, and the oak is plenty suave, but Id love to see it ratcheted down a notch. ** Only 1 in Stock **
This is really beautiful and balanced with berry and light vanilla character. Full-bodied densely balanced yet refined and caressing. Beautiful wine. From American owner Colin Ferrenbach. Best after 2006. 4 830 cases made. Wine Spectator.

Leathery and earthy, with some heavier, muddled characteristics that reflect the vintage. Overall, this wine is not on the same level as the superior 2004, but as it opens it shows a willing mouthfeel and finishing flavors of red currant and cranberry. If you own this along with the 2004, drink this one before the other.
Dense and saturated, with deep purple fruit and nuances of chocolate and smoky oak. An engaging wine with an absolutely compelling finish.
