didn’t like it. thin, heavy tannins, kind of ‘naked’ oak without enough fruit or body to balance it. I love the Franciscan merlot, but this one was a no for me.
complex wine, with flavors of oak, leather, and plum. pairs well with dishes that can stand up to its fuller body, like the pork tenderloin we ate it with this past weekend.
Full bodied with dark fruits and a hint of leather. Smooth mouth feel and a great wine for the price!
enjoyed the wine. the level of merlot softens the wine, but the tannins don't quite stand up. other paso robles blends are better. try justin.
A good wine, but there are better ones for less money.

Thoroughly Napa Valley in its sleepy richness, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (68 percent) with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec offers abundant baked plum flavor set into tannins firm as iron filings. A cool spice in the finish keeps it terse and hard-edged, needing cellar time to soften and expand into the jammy fruit and stylish, pastry-scented oak.
A proprietary blend from the propertyrsquo;s Oakville estate. A blend of 73% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, the 2000 Magnificat is a good commercial-styled wine exhibiting a deep ruby/purple color and plenty of toasty oak, notes of melted licorice, chocolate, and black currant fruit offered in a lusty, straightforward, and satisfying style. Enjoy it over the next 4ndash;5 years.
Focused and elegant, with notes of leather and game running through the black cherry, plum, cedar, sage and tobacco flavors. Firm on the finish, where the flavors build, turning even more complex. Drink now through 2005.
Good intensity, balanced toward elegance and finesse, with appealing currant, light oak, tobacco and cedery notes. Comes up shy on depth. Drink now through 2007.
Surprisingly tannic and closed for an rsquo;01 Napa, but this may be a stylistic decision. Itrsquo;s a very fine wine, well balanced and rich in oak and blackberry-cherry fruit. Totally dry, but those tannins really lock up the flavors. Best after 2010.
Attractive nose with black cherry, blackberry and spicy cedar notes. Forward, juicy flavors with ripe, rich fruit: blackberries, plums and black cherries with notes of chocolate and cinnamon.
Starts out earthy and leathery before weaving in anise, currant, sage and black cherry fruit flavors. Somewhat muddled in its focus, it is complex and concentrated, perhaps merely in an awkward stage. Drink now through 2007.
"...it is a stunningly rich effort boasting an inky/blue/purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of forest floor, coffee, toast, and extravagant levels of black currants and blackberries. Hints of charcoal and flowers add to the wine’s exquisite character...96" WA 02/09 "I love the texture here. This is really impressive for 2006, which is a good but not great vintage. Blackberries, dark chocolate, and lightly roasted oak. Full-bodied, yet holding back with great finesse and strength....94" JS 05/12
