Food Pairings for Vieux Chateau Certan
One of my favorites. As Wine Advocate said - This has a beautiful core of berry, coffee and chocolate fruit. Full yet very balanced, with a velvety mouthfeel and a long, long finish. Extremely well made, with everything in proportion.

didn’t like it. thin, heavy tannins, kind of ‘naked’ oak without enough fruit or body to balance it. I love the Franciscan merlot, but this one was a no for me.
Full bodied with dark fruits and a hint of leather. Smooth mouth feel and a great wine for the price!
complex wine, with flavors of oak, leather, and plum. pairs well with dishes that can stand up to its fuller body, like the pork tenderloin we ate it with this past weekend.
enjoyed the wine. the level of merlot softens the wine, but the tannins don't quite stand up. other paso robles blends are better. try justin.
A good wine, but there are better ones for less money.

Tasted alongside Cabs costing far more, this wine held its own, as it usually does. It's rich in currant, cedar and vanilla flavors, yet dry and superbly balanced. Keeps its harmony through a long, satisfying finish. Drink now.
Shows lots of spice, pepper, berry and olive scents, turning much tighter on the palate, with a trim band of flavors framed by cedary oak. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2015.
Aromas of mocha, coffee and black cherry are compelling from the start. Upon tasting, flavors of ripe blackberries and red currant abound with a hint of leather. Medium to full-bodied, the wine has firm tannins that give a nice lingering finish. There's nothing like a well-made Cabernet from Napa Valley!
Always one of the more reasonably priced Meritage wines, Estancia continues to offer very good value. The '95 has ripe sweet cherry and plum fruit, a lovely velvet texture and soft tannins. it preserves the fresh fruit flavors of the grapes, but doesn't candy or simplify them. Not a powerhouse, it will provide delicious drinking on winter nights.
Medium-deep red. Enticing aromas of plum, leather, tobacco, smoke and milk chocolate. Shapely and fresh, with flavors of plum, cherry, leather and meat and attractively restrained sweetness. Finishes with dusty tannins and good length.
Smooth and supple, with a tasty mix of currant, cedar, tobacco and spice, it wins points for its elegance and balance. Mildly tannic, it's ready to drink now. Drink now through 2008.
The 2002 Magnificat, a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, reveals additional tannin, force, power, depth, and exuberance. It should age well for a decade.
"...it is a stunningly rich effort boasting an inky/blue/purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of forest floor, coffee, toast, and extravagant levels of black currants and blackberries. Hints of charcoal and flowers add to the wine’s exquisite character...96" WA 02/09 "I love the texture here. This is really impressive for 2006, which is a good but not great vintage. Blackberries, dark chocolate, and lightly roasted oak. Full-bodied, yet holding back with great finesse and strength....94" JS 05/12
