Butterscotch and black cherry on the nose with just a touch of herbs and a piercing violet top note. On the palate this is very fresh with great acids and unobtrusive tannins that are very soft but add volume in the mouth. The fruit has a muddy, earthy tone that adds nice depth and a touch of complexity to the pure fruit. 88pts

Very good. Had with steak and I enjoyed quite a bit.
Ignore the speculator review , I can get this wine for the mid to low thirties. For that price this works, I'm drinking a glass as I write this.
A very nice Bordeaux blend - went perfectly with my venison steak. Super silky smooth on the palate, with traditional hints of tobacco and leather supported by a well-balanced base. 91/100
A meritage; my 5th wine tasted at the winery. Aromas complete with some pepper, an earthiness and spice. Palate filled with dark fruit, black currants, blackberries, and plums. Structurally balanced and nice complex length.
medium to dark garnet . red berry+cherry. red fruit+spice,smooth+spice,green-white pepper, fresh finish on fruit
citrus+lemonlime+honey, tropical fruit. green melon, touch of grass, mineral, dry cherry fruit, green+herb finish, sour?. out of balance?, too light body, steely

Quite lush for a 2005, with rich, forward raspberry and boysenberry fruit layered with mocha, fruitcake and Christmas pudding notes. Intense graphite underpinning keeps it all honest. The superlong finish is loaded with raspberry ganache and Turkish coffee notes. Just grows and grows in the glass. Grenache and Syrah. Best from 2009 through 2029.
This rich red wine is full of blackberries, smoke, fresh tobacco, and violet. An intense bottling with present but approachable tannins, this is ideal with grilled meats and mature cheeses. Made in the area of Montepulciano, located 75 miles southeast of the city of Florence, this accomplished and complex creation is based on Prugnolo Gentile, the local Sangiovese clone.
Inky violet. Extremely fragrant bouquet offers a potent mix of dark berries, kirsch, licorice and pungent herbs, with a strong mineral undercurrent. Deep, impressively concentrated cassis and candied cherry flavors are framed by big, velvety tannins, picking up mocha and black cardamom on the finish. Boasts great sweetness but no overripe character. Pretty stunning stuff.
Inky ruby. The nose is a step up in concentration from the Brecciarolo, projecting and austere but profound quality to the aromas of decadently ripe black cherry, grilled meat, blood and minerals. Fat, layered and sweet, with smoky black pepper and raspberry liqueur notes, this huge wine offers surprising mid-palate delineation of flavor for its outsized ripeness. Finishes with fine acids, chewy ripe tannins, and very good grip.
Along with Clos St.-Jean’s Deus Ex Machina, Vieille Julienne’s 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve (200 cases produced) is the wine of the vintage. From 101-year old Grenache vines planted in sandy soils, it boasts a black/purple color as well as a gorgeous perfume of smoke, meat, blackberries, sweet cherries, creme de cassis, licorice, spice, and a hint of pine forest/underbrush. The fruit dominates in this rich, intense, remarkable effort. It requires 5–7 years of bottle age, but should keep for 35–50 years, proving to be one of the most legendary Chateauneuf du Papes ever made. Anticipated maturity: 2012–2040+.
Languedoc-Roussillon, FranceLe Signal Cotes du Roussillon Villages Vieilles Vignes is an old-vines red wine gem from Roussillon, the sunniest wine region of France. Under the supervision of renowned winemaker Jean Vincent Ridon, Le Signal d'Agly produced in 2005 its first vintage of a very limited quantity of world-class wines from Roussillon, one of the world's oldest vineyards, dating to 600 BC. The Signal d'Agly vineyards are scattered around the mountains of Saint Paul de Fenouillet, just a few kilometers from Maury. The soil is mostly black schist and the vines are 80 years and older. Le Signal has been honored by La Revue du Vin de France in its selection of top wines of the year. Only 400 cases were produced.Le Signal Cotes du Roussillon Villages is a red blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvedre from the outstanding ripening vintage of 2005. It is dark cherry red in color with a gorgeous nose of plums, black currants, pepper and violets. Full-bodied with firm tannins, it offers intense flavors of cassis, kirsch and spice with boundless finesse. Well balanced to enjoy over the next 3-4 years, it is rich with lingering fruit on the finish.Enjoy Le Signal Cotes du Roussillon Villages as an ideal accompaniment to lamb chops, steak, truffle omelette and ripe cheeses.
Sweet and ripe, with bubble gum and berry jam on the nose. Flavors of raspberry and blackberry are nice but narrow in scope, while the finish holds on to the fruit shown on the palate. Fruity but not very challenging.
Vieux Ch. Certan, Pomerol displays deep black-red, cherry-red at the rim
followed by a bright berry fruit nose; succulence on the palate, lovely weight,
depth and texture. Good density. Tannins are plentiful but ripe with a long
finish. A real sense of minerality to the wine, clearly from a noble
terroir.
(Alun Griffiths MW, BBR Wine Director - Mar 09)
