Editorial Reviews for Vietti Nebbiolo Barolo Rocche
Spicy on the nose with notes of salted plum, dark cherry in alcohol with a touch of prune, tar and menthol, This is a little soft on entry though with nice tannic cut to the burnished fruit, that turns spicy and mineral earth rich on the back end, This is quite clear in the mouth, full of liquory wild strawberry and wild bitter cherry fruit and packed with fruit tannins on the fine aromatic finish with it’s hints of of citrus rind, and sapid, spiky acids that lead to a pop of cherry fruit on the finale. A pretty elegant wine in the making. 93pts
Nutty, cocoa, and sweet toasted spice oak on the nose tops the core of nice dark spiced cherries with a dusty, spicy character. High toned and bright on entry, unusually structured, lots of weight low on the palate with prominent acidity, fine grained but abundant tannins, and a little peppery spice on the backend. The finish is all structure, tannins, acids, the fruit is elusive here, and the wine just seems to lack complexity and oomph at this point but this does shows nice tannins with some sweet, darker cherry fruit popping on the finish. 89pts
Nice nose, floral fresh rose, touch of herbs, soil, a bit of sour meat, poppy seeds, rich and supple, nice purity to the fruit but it’s a bit dull feeling, liquory, savory and deep, needs some time to pull itself together, lovely crisp tannins, nice fruit sweetness edge, good finish, nice power, should develop some elegance
This was popped and poured. Cool fruits on the nose with hints of pink peppercorn, tomato and spice, a whiff of sweet vanillin, bay leaf, red fruits. This falls in the 96,99,01 paradigm with bright yet ripe structure and a cool sense of restraint, crisp fruit and deep bass notes of tar and licorice. Just spent a few minutes here but his will be interesting to follow and try again.
This was popped and poured - A touch of wood greats the nose, sweet roasted cherry, mint, herb. Round in the mouth reminding 97 with it's weighty palate impression and somewhat drying tannin. Good but not great. 2024-2020
ripe with a more intense nose than the brunate, balsamic, meaty, strawberry fruit and notes of coal, more fat than the Lazzarito with about the same structural elements, superb richness, really packed with wonderfully ripe tannins, great minerallity framing the cherry stone, dreid herb, and dried soil flavors. This will be great
Again after 4 hours this offers an intense nose of spicy herbs, citrussy acidity, tangy fruits and salinity. Mouthfilling and seamless but without the density of the 2000, more cut and finesse. It almost seems soft at times due to the concentration of the fruit but regains great focus with complicating notes of minerality and gentle wood toned spice notes. An infant but with great promise. 2012-2025
The nose showed wild berries, undergrowth and spice with a feminine floral overtone. On the palate, I found rich dark fruits buried in a firm, tight structure of tannin and a lovely, long finish. This wine should be a beauty with a decade or two of cellaring.
I'm a big Vietti fan but this let me down. Drank in 2010, it was too dense, without the proper development of secondary flavors and aromas. Mostly dense fruit at this stage. The Castiglione of the same vintage is better drinking right now to be frank.
Buotque of fresh cut flowers, Tobacco and leather with berriy fruit. Full bodied with present but fine tannin and raspberry fruit. A little hot but so enjoyable. Long finsih.
What a pleasure it was to drink the 1974 Vietti Rocche. The nose showed floral undergrowth, fresh-turned soil with strawberry and, as time passed, a sweet, almost caramel note added outstanding complexities to the already beautiful bouquet. On the palate, it was juicy yet balanced and still showed youthful notes of fresh red berries, cinnamon and sweet floral notes. The finish swung toward the savory side as broth and brown sugar lingered for over 30 seconds.

Bright red with a palish rim. Noble Rocche aromas and flavors of strawberry, dried rose, brown spices, mocha and menthol. Delicate and refined but a bit lean, with strong acidity giving the mid-palate terrific cut and juiciness. Finishes long and scented, with big, dusty, slightly drying tannins. Forget this wine for at least six or seven years.
Appealing aromas of flowers, cherry and raspberry take on tobacco and leather flavors as this crosses the palate. Rich and round, with a supple texture, this is firmly structured, offering a fine aftertaste of fruit and mineral. Needs time to unwind. Best from 2017 through 2035.
The 2004 Barolo Rocche has been breathtaking on the occasions I have tasted it. A deep, intense Barolo, it bursts forth with a compelling array of dark cherries, dried roses, menthol, minerals and spices in an explosive expression of ripe fruit laced... Robert Parker. We've been blessed with yet another stellar vintage of this wine. This is a keeper, concentrated and bursting with fruit and structure that's truly needs some time to appreciate.
This is very flamboyant on the palate with wild fruit and sweet tobacco aromas. Full-bodied, with chewy yet refined tannins and a long, fruity finish. This is very well-structured and reserved and there's loads going on here. Best after 2008. 360 cas... Wine Spectator. A Nebbiolo wine from Piedmont in Italy. 2001 Vietti Barolo Rocche 750ml
The 2000 Barolo Rocche is an unqualified success with its strikingly floral nose of roses and iris, velvety and caressing body, silky tannins, and its admirable balance of force and finesse. Impor...
