Vietti Masseria Barbaresco 1978

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

This just looked fantastic with a pale yet very rosy color. The nose initially was a bit disappointing, all old bones and books but it soon blossomed with a huge note of dried rose which was joined by warm strawberry tones, tar, camphor and anise in a classic aged Nebbiolo bouquet. In the mouth this was beautiful, clean and precise with lovely bright tannins, crisp and even a touch juicy with delicate dried raspberry fruit that had great length and purity. Ultimately it was a touch simple but a fantastic wine to have on it;s own. I look forward to trying this again someday. 91pts
