Vietti Barolo Roche 2007
Garnet ruby color, slight garnet hue, with intense aromas of ripe bing cherries with intricate complexities of minerals, tea leaves and rose petals. With firm, ripe tannins, crisp acidity and feminine and round structure, this Barberesco shows incredible finesse with excellent balance, integration and a long, lingering finish. Food pairings: Hearty stew, wild game, roasted red meats and sharp, aged cheeses.
Velvety rich and textured red and black berry nose with slight menthol and spices. Notable intensity for sure, yet retains a mid-weighted palate. Suave tannins. Big and rich! - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 9/11/10

The 2007 Barolo Castiglione deftly balances the open, radiant personality of the vintage with considerable underlying structure. Warm, dense and full-bodied, the 2007 Barolo Castiglione flows effortlessly across the palate with generous fruit and fabulous overall balance. The wine was even better when I tasted it from bottle a few months later. It is another overachieving wine from Vietti and a bottle that is exceedingly fairly priced. Anticipated maturity: 2017andndash;2027.
With a deep berry essence in the aroma, this wine makes a firm statement at the beginning and end. In the middle, the volume of the tannins edges out the fruit, building both richness and tension. Give this a few years of bottle age to evolve.
Made in a modern, more accessible style, with a stunning nose of mocha, singed meat, roses and coffee. Earth and violets prevail in the mouth and carry over to the long finish. The refined tannin structure tempts early consumption but a few years cellaring will add to the complexity.
A meaty, dense style, packing plum and cherry flavors accented by tea and tobacco, this muscular red wears its burly tannins well, with enough sweet fruit for balance. Fine length. Best from 2015 through 2030.
A subtle, yet complex and perfumed nose, with flowers, plum and blackberry. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a polished texture. Delicately fruity and refined. More open than Vietti's big name single-vineyard Barolos. Best after 2010.
