Food Pairings for Vietti Arneis Roero
Note from tasting: complex, citrus, sweet almondy ["The Other Piedmont" at Bin 105, Lincoln NE, 19 May 2012.]
The nose showed white flowers, a spritz of lime and hints of almond extract. On the palate, I found sweet pear and green apple with crisp acidity that made this wonderfully refreshing. The finish was fresh and light with a bitter hint as it faded away. This is a great white for summer sipping, with a Primavera sauce or white risotto.
From my online review of Vietti Roero Arneis 2009 at http://www.dalluva.com/wine-journal/5-italian-wines-that-know-how-to-party/ If you like Pinot Grigio, think of Vietti Roero Arneis 2009 as its more fresh, extroverted friend – the perfect guest everyone likes to have around at a party. Crisp green apples, grapefruit, and pears come through on the palate of this off-dry (not sweet) white, and the nose has sexy (yes, sexy) hints of mint and jasmine. If you’re a fan of Pinot Grigio or like Sauvignon Blanc, you’ll fall in love with Vietti’s Roero Arneis. Roero Arneis likes to be consumed young, so it’s perfect for summer food fair so long as you’re drinking the latest vintage. Pair this lovely with anything you’d pair with Sauvignon Blanc – Grilled and roasted chicken and game birds, sautéed scallops, anything with goat cheese, and summer vegetable dishes like insalata caprese, grilled peppers, roasted asparagus. This even goes with many Tex-Mex dishes. Enlighten and impress your guests by adding Vietti Roero Arneis 2009 to your shopping list. I’m pretty sure you’ll become a lifelong fan of this wine.
Very nice, fresh, mirabelle plum... I tasted it with the winemaker/owner, Mr. Vietti himself, and it was a great experience!
External Reviews for Vietti Arneis Roero
Wine Tasting NotesWhite to pale straw. Subtle nose of minerals and vanilla. Fresh and seductive. On entry, it is super crisp and delivers straightforward lemon citrus flavors that linger on the tongue. It is nicely structured and has a long spicy finish.
The Vietti estate of Piedmont is best known for their slick Nebbioli reds. This Arneis is their cherished white wine that we're sure you'll love. Full of classic pears and almond skin. Aged on the lees to add a layer of complexity. Very well-balanced and delicious with anything from risotto to halibut. An unoaked white that's enjoyable today.
